GEORGETOWN --

HIGH SCHOOL -- Georgetown Public Schools Athletics announced that registration for the 2026-2027 winter sports season is now open. Student-athletes must complete athletic registration through the appropriate host school, have a valid physical on file (physicals expire 13 months after the exam date), submit the Massachusetts Head Injury Form, and meet academic eligibility requirements based on Quarter 1 grades to be cleared for tryouts.

Georgetown High School is the host school for girls basketball, boys basketball, and winter cheer, all open to grades 7-12. Triton High School hosts co-op programs in boys and girls swimming, boys and girls indoor track, and boys ice hockey for grades 8-12 or 9-12 depending on sport. Newburyport High School hosts the co-op girls ice hockey program, and North Andover High School hosts the co-op gymnastics program, both for grades 9-12.

A Winter Sports Information Night is scheduled for Tuesday, November 24, at 5:30 p.m., covering girls basketball, boys basketball, and winter cheer, with an athletic policy overview followed by breakout sessions to meet coaches and ask sport-specific questions. Tryouts for winter sports begin Monday, November 30, with specific times and locations to be announced.

Athletic Director Jessica Whitehead's office noted that families trying out for programs hosted by other districts, such as girls ice hockey at Newburyport, must register through that host school's link rather than Georgetown's.
